We lie stargazing
you say I should forget you
moonlit Montreal.

So unexpected
his arm slips around my waist
chill evaporates.

Embracing; moonlight,
lips caressing naked skin
shadows on the wall.

Shades Of Light.

If this world were all or nothing
And everything was black or white
Would I sleep more soundly in my bed
Knowing I was wrong, or right?

I would miss the orange hues
Of romantic summer evening skies,
The electric green that can be seen
From the courtship dance of fireflies

I would miss the twinkling azure blue
Of the water as it gently laps
Upon the cornsilk sandy beach
Teasing it, perhaps?

And what about the firebrick
And goldenrod of leaves,
That fall invites
As they drift glently downwards
From the trees

The saddlebrown of chestnuts
Wrapped in lawn-green spikey coats
Bloated orange pumpkins
And harvest almond oats

The purest white
Of the first snowflake
As it lands upon my nose
Turns to linen and old lace
As it becomes a pile of snow

The crimson red of Christmas rose,
Childrens frozen fingers
From throwing snowballs,
Making angels,
The silver mist of winter lingers....

When the shoots of spring
Push through the damp, dark, olive grass
The brilliant yellow daffodils
Stop me in my tracks

Indigo and purple kite
Soaring high in cyan sky
Flapping in the gentle breeze
Dipping, diving, whizzing by

Sometimes the colours in my mind
Blind and overwhelm me
The thoughts, the worries
Shades of grey
The unknown, the uncertainty

If the world were all or nothing
And everything was black or white
I'm sure I'd sleep more soundly
But I'd miss all these delights.

The Robin Redbreast
paces on frost covered grass
futile; even so...

Lightning cracks a whip
Charge; thunderous galloping
magnificent storm.

Little black beetle
battles in the scorching sun
gleaming armoured wing.

The hollow driftwood
washed ashore by raging sea
bleeds onto the sand

A blanket of snow
evenings worries buried now
lucent moonlit path.

Trees stand in a line
ready to salute the sun
soliders on parade.
